A daughter’s tribute to her Vietnam veteran father just pushed a $50,000 endowment past the halfway mark — and every dollar went directly to veterans in need
Glenn Rosberg spent his life devoted to two things: his country and his cars. His daughter Brenna Rosberg Damm found a fitting way to honor both — by throwing a car show that put real money behind a cause that mattered to him.
The event raised $2,455 for the Volusia Veterans Support Endowment, pushing the fund past the halfway mark of its $50,000 goal. Damm secured full sponsor underwriting, so every dollar raised went directly to the fund — no overhead, no attrition. Just impact.
Why It Matters
On any given night, nearly 33,000 veterans experience homelessness in the United States — roughly five percent of all homeless adults nationwide, according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. In Volusia County, the Volusia Veterans Support Endowment was established to address that reality directly: preventing homelessness, combating hunger, and meeting the critical needs of those who served.
The fund isn’t designed to respond to one crisis at a time. It’s built to endure.
“Most people are connected to a veteran in some way,” said Scott Olson, Director of Veterans Services Outreach for the County of Volusia. “Brenna’s commitment to honoring her father’s legacy of service through this donation will have a lasting impact on veterans in our community for generations to come.”
A Community Effort
Brenna’s approach was simple and effective: lock in sponsors, rally the community, and make sure every dollar landed where it was needed most. That’s the model the endowment is built on — people who show up and make it real.
In partnership with the Volusia Veterans Support Endowment, the Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties (CF/UWVFC) stewards donations with transparency and long-term vision.
“Brenna’s gift is a powerful reminder that ending veteran homelessness is a community effort — one built on personal stories, shared values, and the generosity of people who choose to turn their grief into purpose,” said Courtney Edgcomb, President & CEO of CF/UWVFC. “When sponsors step up to cover event costs and every dollar raised goes directly to veterans in need, that’s exactly the kind of partnership that creates lasting change.”
$25,000 to Go
The endowment has crossed the halfway point. When it reaches $50,000, it becomes self-sustaining — generating support that outlasts any single event, donation, or fiscal year.
If you’re a veteran, love one, or believe the people who served this country deserve a stable place to land, this is your moment to be part of something permanent.
